Leadership lessons from NATO – insights for business leaders
Members of the NaviRisk management board, Bartosz Pastuszka and Tomasz Kapuściński, recently attended an inspiring meeting organized by the Scandinavian-Polish Chamber of Commerce (SPCC) at the NATO headquarters in Szczecin. For civilians, this rare opportunity to visit Alliance headquarters offered a unique perspective on leadership under pressure.
Although the military and business worlds may seem distant, the discussion revealed many striking similarities, particularly in leadership principles. Key takeaways included:
- Adaptive Leadership – NATO officers highlighted the importance of being flexible and responsive to a constantly evolving geopolitical landscape.
- Cultural Diversity as a Leadership Challenge – Effective decision-making and collaboration within international organizations require the ability to navigate and embrace cultural differences.
- Strategic Thinking & Crisis Management – Whether in the boardroom or on the battlefield, leaders must be resilient, forward-thinking, and capable of managing uncertainty.
At a time when leadership and authority are increasingly tested, it was especially valuable to hear from officers who embody responsibility, dedication, and commitment to a greater cause.
Bartosz Pastuszka and Tomasz Kapuściński both emphasized that insights from such interactions reinforce NaviRisk’s approach to leadership and organizational resilience, bridging the lessons of military strategy with business decision-making.
A special thanks to Agnieszka Zielińska and the SPCC team for their dedication in organizing this extraordinary event.
NaviRisk – building resilient leadership for a complex world.
