Cybersecurity as a strategic decision. Bartosz Pastuszka on emerging threats and corporate responsibility
Ransomware-as-a-service, data leaks to the darknet, social engineering, and AI-powered defense mechanisms – these were just some of the key topics raised by Bartosz Pastuszka, CEO of NaviRisk, during the expert panel at the 12th Executive Innovation Forum. His message was clear: security today is not just about tools, but about leadership and strategic decision-making in risk management.
Cybersecurity is no longer the exclusive domain of IT departments – it is now a core component of any responsible organization’s business strategy. That was the central message of the expert debate at the Executive Innovation Forum, held on December 17, 2024.
In the panel discussion “Cybersecurity – New Threats and Protection Strategies”, Bartosz Pastuszka, CEO and Managing Partner of NaviRisk, emphasized key developments in the cyber threat landscape:
repeated data leaks and their exploitation on the darknet,
growing sophistication of social engineering, enabled by oversharing on social media,
the commercialization of cybercrime, including the rise of ransomware-as-a-service operations.

“What should worry us today is not only the data we possess, but also the information we reveal about ourselves. Privacy and information hygiene are now an essential part of corporate security,” noted Pastuszka.
He stressed the importance of treating cybersecurity as a strategic responsibility – requiring not only investment in technology, but also education, awareness, and the implementation of risk-based policies and controls.
Panelists agreed that an effective defense must include multi-layered cybersecurity architecture, combining AI-enhanced tools (such as EDR and NDR), physical safeguards for critical infrastructure, and regular training for both employees and leadership.
Other participants in the panel included:
Przemysław Frasunek – Management Board Member, Redge Technologies
Robert Grabowski – Head of CERT, Orange Polska
Wojciech Józefowicz – Cybersecurity Expert, EIB
Karel Obluk – General Partner, Evolution Equity Partners
Andrzej Karpiński – Security Director, BIK Group
The panel was moderated by Prof. Mariusz Rawski, Head of the Cybersecurity Department at Warsaw University of Technology.
Bartosz Pastuszka’s participation in the forum reaffirms NaviRisk’s commitment to advancing a strategic and responsible approach to cybersecurity – supporting business leaders in navigating operational, reputational, and technological risks with clarity and foresight.
